PhD Computer Science

  Classes

I have now completed five courses as part of my PhD program, namely Math 831 - "Differential Geometry", Math 881 - "Partial Differential Equations", CS890DL - "Topics in Computer Vision", CS830 - "Machine Learning" and CS890DY - "Special Topics in Image Processing". As part of Math 831, I created a four-dimensional visualization program, called "HyperVista". To the left are several screenshots of the program. Please excuse the quality of these images - they have been compressed into JPEG format.

  Research

My PhD research covers the topics of image quality, image segmentation and shape-from-shading. In addition to successfully developing a prototype no-reference video quality monitoring system, I have devised several new image detail metrics using a popular segmentation algorithm. At the moment, my attention is directed at several problem in the areas of image quality analysis and shape-of-shading.
