[lofo List] lofo (profile) update

Hi;

Ali intended to send his earlier note only to me. I've replied
to him, but I thought some of my reply might be of interest to
the group. In particular, I have some suggestions about changes
to the sign-in profile form:

I would like a standard page to made available. People who want to
maintain their own format of pages can create a link to somewhere else.
I think that the first thing people see should be standard. Here are
some suggestions. What is the difference between a page and a profile?
Can the profile handle a picture, etc. (things we might like to have on
a page)?

-ask for a user's location and invitation code right after name.

(aside: is it easy to change the e-mail that gets sent out with the
invitation? I would like it give details about the project, and
possibly include a bit of personalization by the sender.)

- ask for *primary* role next.

- ask if they would like to help administer the site (thinking of the
the private site maintenance forum you have created).

- the "questionnaire" question is redundant and can be removed.

- this is a long form to go through. If someone is not a producer,
they may scroll past the part that gets information about what they
would like to buy. How about this, then (can we transform current
profiles into the new form, whatever that may be?):

	* alphabetical list of items that appears once then with every
item, check boxes and text boxes, ask "I am interested in the
	  following local foods from Saskatchewan:"

	| Want to Buy | Do Buy Locally | Want to Sell | Do Sell Locally
honey	| __ | __ | __ | __
If you do now buy/sell locally, where? (__...) [this information
could be kept from other users, but the site could use this info
        to contact of invite others]
Please list the characteristics of what you want to
	buy/sell (__...)

	* At the end of the list, ask if there are any foods missing
(and allow a text box comment -- that could be e-mailed to
   	  you [and me, and others?].

How does that sound?

Best regards,
Daryl
