[lofo List] Fwd: [Local Food Idea List] New local Food Finder service --> what the lofo site should/could be?
Hi;
I realize that the lofo site needs work. I've recently learned that
the student
who I had to work on it has chosen a different career path
altogether. That said,
the following item indicates some potential for what the site could be.
Best regards,
Daryl

NFU: New local Food Finder service

Politics.co.uk - London,UK
Buying fresh, locally grown produce and supporting British
agriculture has never been easier. The NFU has launched a new
online Local Food Finder listing service to promote its members
produce as well as compiling a list of top websites to source local
food.
It can be found on the NFU website and is designed for anyone who
owns a farm shop, has their own business or supplies local shops
with produce.
The service is free and provides a region by region breakdown with
links to food producers, shops, markets and suppliers right across
the country. It can also be used by consumers to find local produce
and also for suppliers who may wish to find a way into the local
market.
Senior web editor at NFU Online Helen Cotterill said: “It’s free
advertising for our members on the site and a great way to promote
your business online as consumers do visit the website for
information.
“Buying local produce has never been so important, so get down and
support your local produce providers.
“We’d like to see as many of our members as possible signing up to
take advantage of this benefit. It’s just another great reason to
become a member of the NFU.”
Anyone wanting to feature their business on the site should send
their name and address, website and email details and NFU
membership number to foodfinder@nfu.org.uk

The Local Food Ideas List is made up of those interested in the
growing importance of local food as a choice for many consumers and
the possibilities of near-urban agriculture supplying local food
choices. The intent of this list is to circulate one news story,
essay or book review per day that provides insight into programs
and polices that will enhance local food systems and near-urban
agriculture. The Local Food Ideas List is a project of the Greater
Toronto Area Agricultural Action Committee:www.gtalocalfood.ca. GTA
AAC staff moderate this list.
