Talinay Adventures, a small company in La Serena arranges excursions around and about the local area.
This one was to the small hamlet of Horcón, in the Elqui Valley.
Horcón is about 3 hours by bus from La Serena.
I took the bus on my own, and as promised, Victor was waiting for me.
He took me down to his house where his wife had a wonderful hot lunch ready for us.
Then we went off on a 4 hour "cabalgata" - a horsetrek.
We went all the way along one side of the valley looking down at the vineyards
in the fields below.
Off in the distance ahead of us were the Andes,and of course beyond them, Argentina.
It was a great trek and I plan on going back in November when all the grapevines are leafed out.
Victor was a great guide, and his wife was so kind and friendly that I feel I'd be welcomed back.
