PETER J. PUCKALL MEMORIAL BURSARY IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

The Peter J. Puckall Memorial Bursary in Computer Science is being established in 2002 at the University of Regina to support students enrolled in the Faculty of Science degree program.  Mr. Puckall completed his secondary education in Sedley, Saskatchewan and subsequently attended the University of Saskatchewan.  Later, he worked as a surveyor and at the inception of the Regina railroad relocation project, Mr. Puckall became involved with the City of Regina.  When the project was terminated, Peter, a stalwart advocate of the open source software movement, especially Linux, started his own company, Citadel Computer Consulting.  Eventually, his computer interests linked him with an international consortium by hosting the Regina Project and supporting other projects with the SQL Clinic.  Mr. Puckall passed away in February 2002 at 47 years of age.  The intent of the Peter J. Puckall Memorial Bursary in Computer Science is to recognize student academic excellence and provide funding support to students who have a declared major in Computer Science.
