TIME-98: Fifth International Workshop on Temporal Representation and Reasoning Sanibel Island, Florida, USA May 16-17, 1998 FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS The purpose of this workshop is to bring together active researchers in the area of temporal representation and reasoning in Artificial Intelligence. Previous workshops have been successful at bridging the gaps between theoretical and applied research in temporal reasoning. The workshop is planned as a two day event to immediately precede FLAIRS-98 (11th Annual Florida Artificial Intelligence Research Symposium, May 17-20). Visit the TIME98 webpage at http://www.cs.uregina.ca/~temporal or the FLAIRS-98 webpage at http://www-cse.uta.edu/~cook/flairs98.html for more details. TIME-98 will be conducted as a combination of paper presentations, an extended poster session, and invited talks. Submission of high quality papers describing mature results or on-going work are invited for all areas of temporal representation and reasoning, including, but not limited to: temporal logics and ontologies temporal constraint reasoning temporal languages and architectures expressive power versus tractability belief and uncertainty in temporal knowledge temporal databases temporal learning and discovery reasoning about actions and events time and nonmonotonism time in problem solving (e.g. diagnosis, scheduling,...) time in multiple agents, communication, and synchronization other applications To maximize interaction among participants, the size of the workshop will be limited. Accepted papers will be invited for full presentation or a poster presentation. All submissions must be received by December 8, 1997. Prospective participants should submit a 6-8 page paper (indicating the selected areas), preferably electronically. To do so, send a postscript file (generated from a .dvi file) via anonymous ftp to the following site: ftp://cs.fit.edu/pub/time98 Alternatively, send 5 hard copies of your submission to: Robert Morris or Lina Khatib TIME-98 Program Chairs Computer Science Program Florida Institute of Technology 150 University Blvd. Melbourne, FL 32901 PUBLICATION All accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings. As well, a selected subset of the papers will be invited for inclusion (subject to refereeing) in a book or in a special issue of a journal.
