Following the success of the first workshop on Web-based support systems held in Halifax, Canada on October 13, 2003, a second workshop has been planned in Beijing, China on September 20, 2004. This workshop will provide a forum for the discussion and exchange of ideas and information by researchers, students, and professionals on the issues and challenges brought on by the Web technology for various support systems. One of our goals is to find out how applications and adaptations of existing methodologies on the Web platform benefit our decision-makings and various activities.
Submissions on all aspects of Web-based support systems are solicited. Descriptions of work in progress are also welcome. Some suggested, but not limited, topics for the workshop include:
Program co-chairs:
University of Regina
Canada
University of
Louisiana at Lafayette
USA
Dr. Guoyin Wang
Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications
China
Submitted papers should be formatted in the style of IEEE-Computer Society Format: http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm. The page limit for the final version is 8 pages. We will be accepting electronic submissions only. Please send your manuscripts in PDF format to wss@cs.uregina.ca
The onsite proceedings of the workshop will be published by WI/IAT 2004. We may have a post-workshop special issue on a journal or an edited book for selected, revised and extended papers. We will also recommend good papers to Web Intelligence and Agent Systems An International Journal (http://wi-consortium.org/html/journal.php) for publication. In addition, fully developed and completely revised versions (created through a separate peer-review process) of the workshop papers which involve fusion of information from multiple sources and/or multiple information extraction/manipulation processes will be considered for possible publication in a potential special issue of the Information Fusion Journal (www.elsevier.com/locate/inffus).
