The mark awarded for each group assignment is shared by all group members. However, you have the ability to communicate extra information about your the performance of your group members to your group members, to the marker, and to me.
For each group assignment, you are encouraged (but not required) to rate your group members by allocating 100 (or 99, in the case of a group with 3 members contributing equally) points amongst them (including yourself). Allocating points for a group assignment will provide evidence of your participation in the course.
If all group members contribute equally, allocate the points equally to each group member.
If you feel that all members of your group have not contributed equally, allocate the 100 points unequally and explain why you have done this.
If you provide a group rating, please be thoughtful as you undertake this activity.
If you decide to not provide a rating, it will be as if you had made an equal allocation of your 100 points.
The points allocated to each group member are summed. The point total for each group member is divided by the largest total, to give a rating between 0.5 and 1 (any rating that is calculated to be less than 0.5 is set to 0.5).
The group member who was allocated the most points will receive a rating of 1, which means 100% of the earned mark for the group assignment. If all group members have the same point total, all will receive 100% of the earned mark for the group assignment. The lowest rating allowed is 0.5 and that means the group member should receive 50% of the earned mark for the group assignment.
The ratings are suggestions to me and information to you about your involvement in your group.
Use the “Rate your group on…” link on URcourses, for the appropriate assignment, and use the form provided here to help you to format your submission.
You can see your rating from the group in URcourses via the link labelled “See Your Rating From Group”.
